The number of take-offs and landings at Zurich Airport rose significantly year-on-year in April. The gap to the pre-crisis figures from 2019 is also narrowing.
In April 2024, there were a total of 21,644 take-offs and landings at Zurich Airport. This is around 7% more than in April 2023, as an analysis of the data by the news agency AWP shows. Compared to the previous month of March, the increase is even 13% - despite the fact that Easter was in March this year.
The gap to the level before the coronavirus crisis in April 2019 narrowed to just under 5%. In the previous months, the difference had been greater than 10% in each case. The trend is therefore pointing upwards in the run-up to the upcoming peak travel season.
The flight movement figures at Zurich Airport are based on daily updated statistics, in which all flights are recorded according to instrument flight rules. This so-called IFR traffic includes scheduled flights as well as cargo, business and private flights. However, the number of flight movements says nothing about the size of the aircraft handled and their capacity utilization.
Zurich Airport will publish detailed passenger and traffic figures for the month of April on May 14.
