The Federal Financial Supervisory Commission for IT warns of major risks. Several IT projects are threatened with delays and cost overruns. It would like to see a standstill.
According to the Finance Committee of the Council of States (FK-S), there are currently too many projects running simultaneously in the Federal Administration, as reported by the Parliamentary Services on Wednesday. Several of the Confederation's IT projects are facing increased risks in terms of timing and finances. IT expenditure, which is one of the Confederation's largest expenditure items, is increasing continuously and massively.
According to the press release, the criticism is based on analyses by the subcommittees of the FK-S. These have reported to the Finance Committee on their findings regarding the management and supervision of IT in the departments. For its part, the Finance Committee would like to see a halt to the continuous increase in expenditure and is asking the Federal Council to prioritize current IT projects and be cautious when deciding on new projects, according to the statement.
