If the booked hotel room is dirty, the reserved tour is canceled or the waiter in the restaurant does not collect the bill for hours, a dispute can arise between providers and customers. For such cases, the associations Hotelleriesuisse, Switzerland Tourism, Gastrosuisse and the Parahotellerie interest group have set up a new ombudsman's office.

The new service will be available to guests from July, as the participating organizations jointly announced on Wednesday. It is to become the central point of contact for all tourism-related concerns in connection with overnight stays in accommodation, services, accommodation, gastronomy and other tourism-related offers.

According to the information provided, the new ombudsman's office is integrated into the existing services of the Swiss travel industry ombudsman. The ombudsman has acted as an impartial mediator between guests and travel companies since 1990, but until now has mainly dealt with tourists from Switzerland who encounter problems when traveling abroad. The new service, on the other hand, is intended specifically for domestic guests or for those traveling to Switzerland from abroad.

With the new ombudsman's office, the associations want to improve the quality of service in Swiss tourism and the local hotel and catering industry and strengthen trust in Swiss tourism. "The tourism industry aims to offer guests a neutral platform for resolving problems and conflicts," the press release states.
