Mayor of Lavizzara struggles for composure

At the media conference following the devastating storms in Ticino, the mayor of Lavizzara in the Vallemaggia district struggled for composure. He doesn't know how he can give his region a future, said Gabriele Dazio on Sunday in Locarno.
He would never have expected to be in this place today in this situation, said the mayor of Lavizzara with a fragile voice. "I would never have believed that my eyes would one day see such devastation."
There was a gym that had simply disappeared, vacation homes that no longer existed, friends who had been torn out of the community. You can't imagine this situation if you haven't experienced it first-hand, Dazio said.
He hopes that drinking water can soon be brought to the lower Lavizzara. However, he does not know how to give the affected villages a future. The village of Peccia, which is home to a well-known sculpture school, is in a disastrous state.
