Swiss landscape more beautiful this summer than it has been for a long time

The landscape in Switzerland hasn't been this beautiful for a long time. In any case, the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Conservation speaks of an "unexpected splendor" this summer. "Rarely have the meadows been so full of flowers and the trees so splendidly in leaf as in 2024," it says.
After years of "Tuscanization" and "mineralization" due to the summer droughts, the landscapes in Switzerland are once again showing their once typical vegetation splendour, the foundation wrote in a press release on Friday.
Since the turn of the millennium, the natural vegetation in summer and thus the beauty of the landscape has rarely been as pronounced as this year. Even if the hot days are still to come, it is already clear that Switzerland has rarely been as green in summer as it has been this year, with an extraordinary splendor of flowers and trees.
However, this year has also shown one thing so far, according to the Foundation for Landscape Conservation: "Where trees and flower meadows are missing, in the city as well as in the countryside, it remains the same as ever." The beauty of the landscape, on the other hand, can be seen where trees and natural meadows are allowed to flourish.
This is the foundation's call: "Let's plant trees and create nature wherever possible!"
