According to the latest data, the Swiss economy grew in line with previous calculations in 2023. According to the national accounts, real gross domestic product (GDP) recorded an increase of 0.7%, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Tuesday.
The previous GDP estimate, which was published by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) at the end of May, also showed real growth of 0.7%. In addition to these initial estimates for 2023, GDP growth in 2022 was also revised upwards to 3.0% from 2.6%.
The first estimate of annual GDP as part of the national accounts is made after eight months (end of August) and, according to the FSO, is still partly based on incomplete information and economic indicators. The second estimate after twenty months - i.e. currently for the 2022 figures - then includes structural data from surveys and administrative data.
