Zurich High Court rejects recusal request in Vincenz case

The prosecutors who brought the charges against former Raiffeisen boss Pierin Vincenz were not biased. This is the conclusion reached by the Zurich High Court. It dismisses the complaints against the prosecutors.
The complaints were triggered by the fact that the Zurich public prosecutor's office had the indictment reviewed by external experts before the trial. This prompted Vincenz to file a recusal request against the prosecutors.
However, as the High Court announced on Friday, it was unable to establish any bias. The appeal has been dismissed, but is not yet legally binding.
The proceedings against Vincenz and other defendants are currently pending with the public prosecutor's office. In January 2024, the Supreme Court overturned the first-instance verdict against the former Raiffeisen boss. The public prosecutor's office is to rectify the situation due to the "inadequate indictment". As soon as this is done, the trial will start all over again.
