This year, the world's largest Swiss flag will not be mounted on the north wall of the Säntis mountain in the Swiss Alps due to the unpredictable weather and strong winds. The Säntis-Schwebebahn AG announced on Saturday that the safety risk for the 25 high-altitude workers who were to unroll the 700-kilogram Swiss flag was too high, with gusts of up to 60 km/h predicted for Monday. The long-term weather forecasts were also unfavourable, making it impossible to roll up and transport the flag back in a few days. This would have posed an additional safety risk. The PR event, which has been taking place for over ten years on August 1st, has been cancelled due to bad weather in 2021 as well. On a clear day, the flag can be seen from far away in the Swiss Alps.
