In an armed robbery at the station post office in Yverdon-les-Bains on Saturday, mainly rolls of coins were stolen. The amount of the loot is not known. No one was injured in the robbery.
The perpetrator threatened an employee at one of the counters with a weapon and demanded in broken English that she empty her till, as the Vaud cantonal police wrote in a statement on Monday. The police were alerted at around 10.15 am.
The employee complied with the request and handed the robber mainly rolls of coins and some banknotes worth between 10 and 100 francs, which he was carrying in two plastic bags.
The robber then left the scene on foot. He received help from passers-by on the station square after losing some of his loot. The man then took a cab and was dropped off in front of the shopping center on Place Bel-Air in Yverdon.
