300 participants of a local football tournament evacuated

The evacuation of around 300 participants in a local football tournament in Peccia, in Val Lavizzara, was completed on Sunday evening. They had been blocked after the severe storms in the affected region.
The people had to wait all day for their helicopter transport to the valley. Earlier, a summer colony of 40 children and 30 adults had been evacuated from Mogno in the upper Val Lavizzara.
The search for the missing person in Val Lavizzara is continuing, the Ticino cantonal police announced on Sunday evening. Work to restore the power line is also continuing.
