72-year-old hiker falls and dies in Bergell

A 72-year-old hiker fell and died on Tuesday evening near Maloja GR in Bergell on the Pass da Casnil Sud. It is unclear why the Dane fell off the path.
The man was part of a six-person hiking group from Denmark, as reported by the Graubünden cantonal police on Thursday. The hikers realized in the early afternoon on the way to the Forno hut that the 72-year-old had been left behind. He was found dead near the rocky, alpine hiking trail.
A Rega crew recovered the body. The cantonal police are investigating the circumstances that led to the mountain accident.
