A bee competence center was opened on Saturday in the Val de Bagnes municipality in Valais, directly on the international axis of the Great St. Bernard. The center is estimated to cost 2.2 million Swiss francs.
The center will be used for education, research and awareness-raising for schoolchildren and the general public, as well as for beekeeping and agrotourism, according to the Valais authorities. It also houses a section for apitherapy, the use of bee products to prevent or cure diseases. A foundation set up for this purpose will be responsible for its operation and management.
