The Austrian architect Adolf Krischanitz donates his extensive archive to the Architekturzentrum Wien (AzW), the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), the Archiv der Zeitgenossen in Krems and the gta-Archiv at ETH Zurich.
This supra-regional collaboration on the estate breaks new ground in the preservation of cultural heritage, according to a statement from the AzW on Monday. Krischanitz's lifelong interest in urban planning, spaces for art, education and work, as well as his passion for interiors, are represented in the collection.
As part of the cooperation, there is now the opportunity to deepen research into the work of the architect, who was born in Austria in 1946, in an interdisciplinary context. Krischanitz's most important projects include the Kunsthallen in Krems and on Karlsplatz in Vienna, the two refurbishments of the Secessio and the Zurich Insurance Group's Quai Zurich Campus in Zurich.
Krischanitz founded an architecture firm in Vienna in 1979 and later in Zurich. He has also taught at the Technical University in Munich and at the summer academies in Karlsruhe, Naples, Vienna and Berlin.
