The Freiburg Canton Archaeology Office (AAFR) has discovered the remains of a hearth in Delley FR. The AAFR found numerous exceptionally well-preserved and large ceramic fragments from the Late Bronze Age (1100-800 BC). The site was discovered during an excavation for the laying of a sewer, as the AAFR announced on Monday. The moving excavators and the laying of the water pipe threatened the archaeological remains, so a team from the AAFR was dispatched. According to the communiqué, the work of the archaeologists revealed an extensive pit that was used multiple times as a furnace. No archaeological remains were previously known from this zone.
