Last year, 101 weapons were reported missing to the Swiss Armed Forces. In 88 cases, these were assault rifles, in 13 cases pistols. The vast majority of weapons, namely 95, were stolen.

The number of weapons lost was therefore slightly higher than in 2022, as can be seen from the corresponding army statistics on the internet. At that time, 96 army weapons were reported missing, compared to 98 the year before.

The number of 101 weapons lost is in line with the fluctuations of previous years, the army wrote. Only in the first year of the pandemic, 2020, was the number of lost weapons significantly lower at 70.

The statistics on the loss of weapons were first reported on Friday by "Blick". According to the information, 32 missing army weapons were found last year - most of them in the homes of the people who had reported the loss or with their subsequent tenants.
