The Axenstrasse will remain closed in the section from Wolfsprung to Sisikon until at least Friday evening. The clean-up work following the debris flows on Monday evening is still ongoing.

The debris flow in the area of the Schiefernegg gallery caused the culvert under the gallery and the debris collector to fill up and become blocked, the Federal Roads Office Astra announced on Wednesday. As a result, the water no longer flowed away and the stability of the structure was no longer guaranteed.

Further clean-up work is underway in the Gumpisch area. Several debris flows with falling rocks caused damage to the alarm system and safety nets. In the meantime, the road between Flüelen and Sisikon has been reopened to traffic.

During this time, north-south traffic will be routed via the A2 highway via Lucerne and the Seelisberg Tunnel. In addition, a construction site between Seedorf and the Seelisberg tunnel will be temporarily closed. From Thursday, two lanes will be available to road users in both directions.
