At this year's Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert, USA, the film "The Congress of Penguins" by Zurich director Hans-Ulrich Schlumpf will be shown. Schlumpf's award-winning film from 1993 will be shown in an endless loop in a shelter cooled with solar cells called "Oh-ICE-is!".
Schlumpf's press office announced on Monday that Schlumpf will be represented in Black Rock City by photographer and filmmaker Caroline Fink. The Burning Man Festival began on Sunday and runs until September 2.
"The Congress of Penguins" was filmed in the Antarctic between 1990 and 1993 and is intended to highlight human greed and the lack of respect for nature. Schlumpf "interviewed" penguins about the future of the earth and put answers from author and cabaret artist Franz Hohler into their mouths.
The film inspired thousands, was invited to festivals around the world and won several awards, including the Zurich Film Prize.
