The cantonal road between Riddes-Isérables and La Tzoumaz, which has been interrupted since February due to a partial tunnel collapse near Riddes VS, will be open to traffic again from Friday afternoon. This means that the repair work will end earlier than planned.
The reopening of the road in Lower Valais was originally planned for the end of June, as the canton of Valais announced on Wednesday. The link will be open again from Friday at 4 pm.
The extensive repairs were carried out in various phases. The renaturation work will continue, but will not affect traffic.
The cantonal road to Isérables and La Tzoumaz has been closed to traffic since February 3 following the partial collapse of the La Becque tunnel. The subsequently increased public transport services to maintain the mobility of the population will end on June 12. From then on, the Riddes-Isérables cable car and the Isérables-La Tzoumaz bus line will run according to the usual timetable again.
