Cars jam up in front of the Gotthard tunnel in Göschenen

The cool weather is driving people north of the Alps southwards. The traffic jam in front of the north portal of the Gotthard road tunnel reached a length of ten kilometers at around 3.30 pm on Friday.
The A2 Lucerne-Gotthard is overloaded between Erstfeld and Göschenen, the TCS announced on the short message service X. The loss of time amounted to one hour and 40 minutes.
The weather forecast for the weekend is much better for Ticino than for German-speaking Switzerland. On Saturday, temperatures of up to 17 degrees and sunshine are expected in Lugano. In German-speaking Switzerland, it is expected to be much cooler and rainy. The forecast for Sunday is similar. In addition, the spring vacation begins in the canton of Zurich.
