Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis will take part in the third reconstruction conference on Ukraine in Berlin on Tuesday. The focus of the conference will include the involvement of the private sector, social aspects and the promotion of local and regional development.
Discussions in Berlin will focus in particular on how the private sector can be more closely involved in order to promote economic growth in Ukraine and thus advance reconstruction, as the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) announced on Monday. For this reason, Swiss companies were among those invited to the conference.
The conference will be the third reconstruction conference after those in Lugano (2022) and London (2023), the FDFA added. They formed the compass for the political reconstruction process.
The Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Patricia Danzi, is also traveling to Berlin, according to the communiqué. On Wednesday, she will contribute Switzerland's expertise to an exchange on humanitarian demining. Switzerland is also planning an international conference in this area in Lausanne in October.
