Center politicians in the lead in Valais

In the second round of the Council of States elections in Valais, the two centrist candidates are clearly ahead after the results of three quarters of the municipalities have been counted. Beat Rieder from Upper Valais is in the lead with 30,037 votes ahead of his party colleague Marianne Maret with 27,232.
With 12,832 votes, FDP politician Philippe Nantermod was a distant third. The results for the canton's large cities are not yet available.
