Chassot and Gapany lead in the Council of States elections in Fribourg

The current members of the Council of States, Isabelle Chassot (center) and Johanna Gapany (FDP), are well on their way to being re-elected in the second round of the Council of States elections in Fribourg on Sunday. The third candidate, Alizée Rey of the SP, is trailing behind.

After counting the votes in 99 of the canton's 126 municipalities, Chassot received 21,155 votes, Gapany 17,931 votes and Rey 14,480 votes.

The results for the three most populous municipalities of Fribourg, Bulle and Villars-sur-Glâne are not yet available. Voter turnout is currently at 32.5 percent, compared to 45.4 percent in the first round of voting three weeks ago.
