The Swiss Climate Foundation has awarded more than CHF 1.3 million for ten climate-innovative projects and technologies in the first funding round for 2024. This brings the total amount of funding to over CHF 40 million.

One of the funded projects is the "Grabowski" drilling robot from Winterthur ZH, as the foundation announced on Tuesday. The drilling robot is designed for near-surface geothermal drilling in confined spaces such as city centers. The drilling machine reduces carbon dioxide emissions and makes geothermal energy much more accessible, it said.

The "Tornado 1" project from Bubendorf BL is also being funded. With a diameter of 3.2 meters, the wind turbine is smaller and more compact than conventional wind turbines.

With the autonomous lightweight mower developed by a team of inventors from Rotkreuz ZG, an average farm could save four tons of carbon dioxide per year, wrote the Swiss Climate Foundation. The lightweight mower weighs just 50 kilograms.

The Swiss Climate Foundation has been awarding funding to climate-innovative projects that have a sustainable impact on climate protection for 16 years. The Foundation Board decides twice a year on the applications received.
