Bern and Jura have approved the transfer of the small town of Moutier to the canton of Jura by a large majority. Now all that remains is for the federal parliament to approve the change of canton. In addition to the two federal proposals, other cantonal proposals have been put to the vote in eleven other cantons. The results are listed below in alphabetical order:

In the canton of Baselland, voters approved a freeze on doctors with almost 62% of the vote in favor. It is expected to bring savings of CHF 7.7 million per year. Exceptions will be possible in the event of supply bottlenecks.

In the canton of Bern, voters approved the concordat for the transfer of the small town of Moutier to the canton of Jura with 83.2% of votes in favor. Small constitutional amendments required for the change of canton were even approved with 86.7 percent of votes in favor. Moutier is therefore likely to become part of the Jura at the beginning of 2026. The decision still required from the federal parliament is considered a formality.

The canton of Fribourg can provide financial relief for families at risk of poverty. The electorate has clearly approved the law on supplementary benefits for families with almost 70 percent of votes in favor.

Geneva remains a special case

In the canton of Geneva, the training of primary school teachers is not to be shortened from four to three years. As in all other cantons, voters rejected the reduction of the training period to three years with 61.7% of votes against. The amendment to the law on the taxation of natural persons, which was intended to favor the owners of small and medium-sized enterprises, was also rejected with 58.4 percent of votes against.

The canton of Graubünden can build a new training center for civil defence for just under 19 million francs. The people approved the bill with over 77% of votes in favor.

The canton of Jura has approved the transfer of the Bernese-Jura town of Moutier from the canton of Bern to the Jura with almost 73% of votes in favor. Moutier's change of canton is also accompanied by an amendment to the Jura constitution. An article that was previously intended to pave the way for the unification of the Bernese Jura and the canton of Jura will be deleted. The pending decision of the federal parliament on the change of canton is considered a formality.

Lucerne reduces equity taxes

In the canton of Lucerne, the equity tax for companies is being reduced to 0.01 per thousand. Tax relief will also be granted to people with low incomes and families. Voters approved the tax package with a two-thirds majority.

The municipalities of Nidwalden will be given more organizational freedom. For example, the term of office of the presidency no longer necessarily lasts two years, but can now also last four years. The municipal council will be given more time to convene an extraordinary municipal assembly. The corresponding constitutional amendment was approved with 82 percent of votes in favor.

The Schwyz electorate narrowly approved the new administration and security center in Kaltbach for 139 million Swiss francs with 51.8 percent of votes in favour.

In future, the Solothurn cantonal government will be able to select and appoint the State Secretary itself. The electorate approved the corresponding amendment to the cantonal constitution with 71% of votes in favor. An amendment to the constitution on building insurance, which gives parliament a right of veto, was even approved with a 75 percent "yes" vote.

No extension of the solar obligation in Uri

The people of Uri have clearly spoken out against a more extensive solar obligation on new buildings with 64% of votes against. The partial revision of the tax law, which allows for lower deductions, was approved with 64% of votes in favor.

Temporarily admitted persons in the canton of Zurich will still have to wait five years before they can apply for grants from the canton. Voters rejected the removal of the waiting period with 54.4 percent of votes against. The vote had become necessary due to a referendum initiated by the SVP-EDU parliamentary group in the cantonal council.

The Zug electorate approved the leaner counter-proposal to the Young Alternative's transparency initiative. This means that only the principles of party financing are written into the constitution, while the details are to be regulated in a law. The counter-proposal was adopted with 52% of votes in favor, while the constitutional initiative was rejected with 54% of votes against. Zug had already voted on this proposal on June 9. However, the vote at that time was declared invalid due to problems with the count.
