A 29-year-old driver caused a disturbance in the pedestrian zones of the city of Fribourg on Monday afternoon. He drove at high speed, crashed into the door of a police car and fled on foot. The police arrested the man.
The driver was behind the wheel without a driver's license, according to the Fribourg cantonal police. The police were alerted shortly before 2 p.m. because of a dangerous driver on the Grand-Places.
When the police patrols arrived near the Théâtre de l'Equilibre, the driver drove off and crashed into the door of a police car. The police officer who signaled him to stop was only just able to avoid the car that was speeding towards him, as the cantonal police reported.
The fugitive then drove at high speed towards the city center and then through the pedestrian zones of Romont and Lausanne - without paying attention to the numerous pedestrians.
According to the police, he hit a concrete bollard and crashed into a parked delivery vehicle. The driver fled on foot. The police stopped the man and overpowered him.
