The airline Easyjet is expanding its services at Zurich Airport with a route to Rome from next spring. From March 30, the British company will fly twice daily from Zurich to the Italian capital, as announced on Wednesday.
The low-cost airline is benefiting from Lufthansa's expansion into Italy, where the Germans have acquired the Italian airline ITA. As a condition of the takeover, ITA had to give back certain take-off and landing rights, which now benefits Easyjet, which has received approval for short-haul flights from Italy. Easyjet is now opening two new bases at Rome's Fiumicino Airport and Milan Airport, as the British airline announced.
This means that Easyjet can now offer a wider choice of destinations. With the new route to Rome, Easyjet will be offering a total of 14 destinations from Zurich next summer.
