Elderly couple found dead in Neuchâtel apartment

An elderly couple were found dead in their home in the canton of Neuchâtel on Tuesday. It was initially unclear how the 90-year-old man and his 80-year-old wife died. However, the Neuchâtel police discovered a firearm at the scene.
The Neuchâtel Emergency Operations Center (CNU) was informed on Tuesday evening that an elderly couple had been found dead in their home in a village in the Littoral region, the Neuchâtel public prosecutor's office announced on Thursday. It has launched an investigation to establish the circumstances of these deaths.
The investigating authorities initially ruled out the involvement of third parties on Thursday. According to the initial findings, "the incidents appear to have taken place behind closed doors". In view of the ongoing investigations, the public prosecutor's office did not wish to disclose any further information.
