FDP party president Thierry Burkart took a critical look back at the federal elections in October at the party's delegates' meeting in Zug on Saturday. A party like the FDP is needed more than ever, he said.
"We have to admit that we missed our target," said the party president. The FDP Switzerland had to accept a result that it had not hoped for. One of the reasons he cited was the "debacle surrounding Credit Suisse". This had had a negative impact on the public's perception of the party.
Burkart cited the issue of list connections as a further stumbling block. Some have criticized the FDP for throwing itself at the SVP. But as a party, you have to enter into list combinations in order not to be at a disadvantage from the outset. In Burkart's opinion, list combinations should be abolished. He would have put this forward in parliament accordingly.
