The Federal Council wants to obtain information on the activities of state objectors in Switzerland. The number of people who neither respect nor recognize the authorities is increasing. However, a comprehensive picture of the situation is lacking.

This is what the Federal Council wrote in its response to a postulate by Nina Schläfli (SP/TG) published on Thursday. According to the response, state objectors behave uncooperatively towards the state and its representatives and reject the legitimacy of the democratic constitutional state.

Those who reject the state do not have an openly violent ideology. However, groups or individuals justify violence as a means of self-defense, the Federal Council explains.

The law enforcement authorities do have tools at their disposal to combat the spread of violent ideologies. However, a comprehensive picture of the situation is lacking. The phenomenon of state objectors should therefore be analyzed.

In the postulate, which was co-signed by forty members of the Council, Schläfli mentioned self-administrators and citizens of the Reich as well as those who refuse to abide by the state. In its report, the Federal Council should also state whether laws need to be adapted in order to take action against them.

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority Finma has launched an investigation into the "Kingdom of Germany", as reported by Radio SRF at the beginning of July. The group of so-called "Reichsbürger" was placed on Finma's warning list. Its representatives are said to have offered unauthorized banking and insurance services at events.
