Together with the cantons, the Federal Council will take stock of contact tracing during the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, the Council of States issued the corresponding mandate to the federal government with the latter's consent.
The small chamber tacitly approved the postulate of its Control Committee (GPK-S) with this request. Contact tracing refers to the tracing of contacts of people infected with the virus. The aim is to prevent further infections.
In particular, the GPK-S would like the Federal Council to investigate which contact tracing practices have proven successful in the cantons. It should also be analyzed whether these measures should be "firmly anchored". Together with the cantons, the Federal Council should also examine whether harmonized IT systems and a joint database for contact tracing should be created.
