Foreign Minister Kuleba: Airspace control is Ukraine’s priority

According to its Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's most important goal for this year is to gain control of its airspace. "In 2024, the priority is of course to get Russia out of the sky," said Kuleba in a speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos GR. "Because whoever controls the skies will determine when and how the war ends."
"We are fighting a powerful enemy, a very big enemy that does not sleep. That takes time," said Kuleba. Ukraine defeated Russia "on land" in 2022 and "at sea" in 2023. "We are fully focused on defeating them in the air in 2024," he said during a panel discussion.
February 24 marks the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and its effects will also be one of the main topics.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an eagerly awaited speech in Davos. With a view to continued Russian aggression against his country, he once again called on the West to supply more weapons to his country.
Zelensky asserted that "the possible direction and timetable for a new Russian aggression outside Ukraine is becoming increasingly clear". Zelenskyi said that Ukraine must "gain air superiority" in order to enable "progress on the ground".
