Former Jelmoli boss Nina Müller has found a new job. As of February 1, 2024, she will take over as CEO of the luxury goods company Lalique, as detailed in a press release on Monday.
Müller was head of Jelmoli from 2020 until the end of April 2023. Among other things, she took over with the aim of making the traditional department store more sustainable. However, despite the new boss's enthusiasm, it was announced last spring that Jelmoli would close its doors at the end of 2024.
The reason for this is that the owner, real estate group Swiss Prime Site (SPS), no longer wants to be responsible for the retail business itself in future, but has been unable to find a buyer. Following a conversion, the building will therefore no longer be used entirely as a department store, but as a mixed-use building. In other words, the shopping part will be significantly smaller and offices will be created on the upper floors. This means the end for Jelmoli. When the closure was announced, Müller resigned as manager at his own request.
Before joining Jelmoli, Müller worked for the watch and jewelry retailer Christ and the crystal group Swarovski. Accordingly, the 54-year-old Austrian has broad management experience in the consumer and luxury goods sector, according to the Lalique communiqué.
Lalique has grown in recent years
She takes over her new role from Roger von der Weid, who joined the Lalique Group in 2006 as CEO and Delegate of the Board of Directors. In future, he will take on an extended strategic role as Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
According to Silvio Denz, Chairman of the Board of Directors, the size and complexity of the Lalique Group has grown considerably in recent years as the business has expanded. This is now being taken into account with the personnel decisions.
Lalique is a luxury goods company listed on the Swiss stock exchange that was originally founded in 1888 by French glass artist René Lalique. It specializes in perfumes, jewelry and glass objects. The main shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors is the well-known Swiss entrepreneur Silvio Denz.
