The delegates of the Syna union elected former National Councillor Yvonne Feri (SP/AG) as their new president on Saturday. Under her leadership, the union aims to put people even more at the centre of their work, according to the statement.
At the Congress in Lucerne, the approximately 250 delegates of the All-Industry Union decided "overwhelmingly" to equip themselves for the future with Synas under the motto "The Human in the Center". This will enable them to better prepare for the future.
In a world shaped by technology and progress, it is of paramount importance that we do not lose sight of the people, according to Feri. We must be aware that it is the people who make up our society, who develop ideas, drive innovation and build communities.
Yvonne Feri, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has not re-entered the parliamentary elections on October 22nd.
Opposition to Pension Increase.
At their 7th Congress, held every four years, delegates agreed on various demands. These include the introduction of a sickness benefit insurance. This would mean the expansion of a legal obligation to pay wages in case of illness or accident.
They are calling for a national harmonization and expansion of social security, the abolition of the coordination deduction of the second pillar and an obligatory 13th month salary to secure pensions even with low wages. They also want to oppose the increase of the retirement age.
