Cabaret artist Hazel Brugger and the comedy duo Ursus & Nadeschkin from Switzerland are among the winners of the German Cabaret Award 2024. Brugger was honored in the Stand-Up category. Ursus & Nadeschkin received the honorary prize.
The jury named Hazel Brugger the "Queen of comic repartee", as announced by the Forum Theater Unterhaus in Mainz on its website. The 29-year-old, who now lives in Zurich and Cologne, has already won the German Comedy Award in 2020 and the City of Mainz Sponsorship Award in 2017.
Ursus & Nadeschkin won the honorary prize of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The honorary prize is awarded to personalities who have rendered outstanding services in the field of so-called cabaret. The Swiss duo Urs Wehrli (54) and Nadja Sieger (55) have been performing together for 36 years. The jury praised their versatility, among other things.
Six categories and 30,000 euros
The jury awarded a total of six cabaret prizes. The winners also include Moritz Neumeier (cabaret), Fortuna Ehrenfeld (music), Friedemann Weise (cabaret) and Malarina (sponsorship award). They were chosen from 75 nominations.
The German Cabaret Prize is endowed with 30,000 euros. The winners of each prize category each receive 5,000 euros. The award ceremony will take place on May 11, 2024 in the Unterhaus in Mainz. The prize is considered an important award in cabaret. The German Cabaret Prize has been awarded since 1972. The first winner was cabaret artist Hanns Dieter Hüsch.
