The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Hochrhein-Bodensee has welcomed the agreement between Switzerland and the EU on new bilateral treaties. It stated that clear and stable framework conditions are essential to secure cross-border trade and close cooperation with Switzerland in the long term.
For the regional economy in the IHK Hochrhein-Bodensee district, it is of central importance that the impasse has come to an end for the time being, the IHK Hochrhein-Bodensee wrote in a press release on Friday. Its area covers the districts of Constance, Waldshut and Lörrach.
The long period of uncertainty was extremely hindering for the closely intertwined economic area at the border and beyond. "The expiry of the previous agreements would have posed an enormous challenge," the press release continued.
IHK Managing Director Katrin Klodt-Bussmann is quoted as saying: "We would be very pleased if the Swiss parliament and the Swiss people would also approve the current results of the negotiations."
