For the 19th time, various carefully curated literary events will take place in and around Thun Town Hall from March 8 to 10. The Literaare literary festival includes a competition for young writers and a debut evening; authors from Switzerland and international guests are invited.

The 19th edition of the festival will be opened by German author Daniel Schreiber. In his new book "Die Zeit der Verluste" (The Time of Losses), he combines a personal, concrete case of grief with a sense of the collective loss of certainties and security.

These are questions that will also be explored by other invited guests: The novel by poet and essayist Kerstin Preiwuß, who will be reading on Saturday afternoon, is about basic fears. Finally, the German writer and cabaret artist Bov Bergs will read from his latest dystopian novel "Der Vorweiner", in which people are already so emotionally alienated that tears become currency.

On March 9, the German playwright, poet, editor and publisher Dinçer Güçyeter will read from his debut novel "Unser Deutschlandmärchen". The novel was awarded the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2023.

Author and literary mediator Tabea Steiner was a key initiator of the Literaare literature festival. Since 2004, she and her volunteer team have been presenting current literary works from German-speaking countries over the course of three days.
