The Graubünden government approved three large-scale solar plants in the Surselva on Thursday. All three together will one day supply electricity for 10,400 households.
The largest of the three plants is to be located in the Scharinas/Cuolm Val area in the municipality of Tujetsch GR. Covering an area of 30 hectares, 45,000 solar modules are to produce electricity for 5,800 households, as detailed in a press release issued by the Graubünden government on Thursday.
A second, somewhat smaller plant is also planned in the same municipality. Near the Lai da Nalps reservoir, 19,000 solar modules will supply electricity for 2,200 households. Both plants have already been approved by voters in the municipality.
The third "Vorab" project also received the green light from the responsible municipal assembly in Laax and now also from the cantonal government. Those responsible want to supply electricity for 2,400 households on 50 hectares with 21,000 solar modules.
