The Green Party member of the Bernese government, Christine Häsler, is not interested in running for the Federal Council. She wants to continue to concentrate on her task as education and culture director of the canton of Bern, as Christine Häsler said on Tuesday in response to a question from the news agency Keystone SDA.
Häsler has been a member of the government council in the canton of Bern since 2018. Between 2015 and 2018, the 60-year-old was a member of the National Council for the Green Party. Before that, she was a member of the Bernese Grand Council and chaired the parliamentary group for several years.
The Greens had decided on Saturday to run for a seat in the Federal Council. They want to submit a candidacy that is directed against one of the two FDP seats. On Tuesday, Fribourg National Councilor Gerhard Andrey (Greens) was the first to announce his candidacy.
