Guitarist Slash from the hard rock band Guns N' Roses ("Paradise City") has launched his own blues festival. With the "S.E.R P.E.N.T." festival, Slash wants to promote tolerance and equality and set an example against racism and war.
The 58-year-old plans to go on tour with the festival in the summer. At the concerts, the guitar icon, who performed at the Oscars last Sunday with "Barbie" star Ryan Gosling ("I'm Just Ken"), will be supported by blues greats such as Warren Haynes, Christone Ingram alias Kingfish, Robert Randolph, Samantha Fish and Larkin Poe.
"On the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. tour, we want to celebrate blues and rock'n'roll music, unity and togetherness - in these uncertain and divisive times," announced Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson and who has also been active as a solo artist for many years. The title "S.E.R.P.E.N.T." stands for "Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality N' Tolerance". Part of the proceeds will be donated to charitable foundations, including the War Child organization.
In May, Slash also releases his first blues album, on which the Guns N' Roses rocker is supported by stars such as Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Iggy Pop, Chris Stapleton and Demi Lovato. But before he devotes himself fully to the blues, Slash is coming to Europe with singer Myles Kennedy and his hard rock band The Conspirators. As part of the "The River Is Rising" tour, the guitarist with the iconic top hat will play concerts in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and Zurich. He has already released four albums with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.
