Hundreds in Geneva protest against Putin in queue before election

On the last day of the presidential election in Russia, government critics also took part in a protest against Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in Geneva. Almost 400 people joined the queue in front of the Russian Consulate General on Sunday afternoon.
The queue, which included many young Russians, stretched across the sidewalk in an orderly fashion, as a correspondent from the Keystone-SDA news agency reported. Some carried placards against Putin and the war in Ukraine. Almost 2,000 Russians from western Switzerland were expected to vote in Geneva.
Most of the people who were present at midday heeded the call of the widow of the dead opposition figure Alexei Navalny to go to the polls at the same time. In the "Noon against Putin" campaign, voters were asked to vote for every candidate except Putin.
According to one opposition member, he wrote "Putin war candidate and murderer" on his ballot paper. Several people counted the voters on site. They want to check the figures given by the Kremlin.
