A dog on a lead was shot dead on a local street in Sedrun GR on Sunday night. The shot was fired by a 79-year-old resident who holds a hunting license. The further circumstances are still unclear.

A woman was walking her dog, a ten-month-old Weimaraner, after 11 p.m. on Saturday. Suddenly a shot rang out and the dog collapsed, the cantonal police of Graubünden reported on Tuesday.

The owner informed the police. A 79-year-old man who admitted to firing the shot was located that night. The man had a hunting license and therefore had a weapon, explained police spokesman Roman Rüegg at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.

There is no further information about the circumstances or the reason for the shooting for the time being. Investigations are being carried out by the police together with the public prosecutor's office. According to the police spokesman, the game warden is also involved.
