In the Maggia Valley storm area, 405 civil defense personnel were on duty

In the Maggia Valley, which was hit by storms at the end of June, 405 members of the Ticino Civil Defense were on duty until Friday. They worked a total of 1850 days.
According to the Ticino Department of Justice and Police, the civil defense of the Locarno and Maggia Valley region was primarily deployed. It was supported by the civil defence organizations of the other Ticino regions.
According to the press release, the tasks of the civil defense in the storm area were varied. The first task was evacuation, then the civil defence supported the police with traffic services at the destroyed Visletto Bridge or organized and coordinated the distribution of vital goods to areas sealed off from the environment.
The civil defense was also deployed for restoration work. This included cleaning schools, restoring the playground in Prato Sornico and restoring alpine paths, according to the press release.
