The number of vacancies at the ten largest Swiss banks fell significantly in September. According to an analysis by the job portal Indeed, there were over 15 percent fewer job advertisements on the banks' websites than in the previous month.

A total of 642 jobs were advertised at the ten financial institutions in September, not including apprenticeships and internships. In August, the figure was just under 760. There were significantly fewer job advertisements at the major bank UBS (-35%) and at Bank Julius Baer (-63%) in particular, as the analysis of job vacancies that Indeed regularly carries out for the news agency AWP shows. Only jobs with a place of work in Switzerland are included in the analysis.

However, job vacancies are not declining at all banks: at Vontobel (+62%) and Lombard Odier (+19%), the number of job vacancies actually rose significantly in September.

In the longer term, the number of vacancies at the largest Swiss banks is also currently low. In September last year, a total of 890 jobs were advertised at the ten largest banks, around 40 percent more than at present. Credit Suisse, which still had numerous vacancies to fill last fall and has since been merged into UBS, is particularly significant in this respect. On the other hand, the number of vacancies at UBS is one of the few that is currently higher than last fall, albeit only slightly.
