The British business newspaper "Financial Times" has named Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter as one of the most influential women of 2023. In addition to the Finance Minister, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was also honored.
The laudatory speech for Keller-Sutter in the Financial Times was written by Swedish Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson. "Knowledge, courage and determination are perhaps the most important qualities of a politician - and for me, Karin embodies all of these qualities," wrote Svantesson.
Among other things, Svantesson also highlighted Keller-Sutter's role in overcoming the Credit Suisse banking crisis in March of this year: "Karin's decisive action in overcoming the Credit Suisse banking crisis at the beginning of this year saved the Swiss economy. We are all indebted to her," wrote the Swede.
The two met for the first time on Keller-Sutter's first trip abroad as Finance Minister in February 2023 in the Swedish capital Stockholm. The "NZZ" first reported on this.
