The Lufthansa Group is still looking for numerous employees. The Group announced on Monday that it intends to recruit around 13,000 people in a wide range of professions again this year. This is roughly the same number of new recruits as last year.

Following the complete sale of the catering company LSG, around 95,000 people in 90 countries work for the company. The company is currently looking to recruit cabin (3,500), cockpit (1,000), technical (2,000) and information technology (900) staff. There are also many vacancies for ground staff in Munich and Frankfurt.

Around two thirds of new hires replaced workers who left the company in the past. One third are additional employees. The focus is on being an attractive employer, explained Chief Human Resources Officer Michael Niggemann.

Swiss is also expanding

Swiss is also sticking to its recruitment plans for the current year. The Swiss airline plans to hire around 1,000 cabin crew, 80 pilots and 600 ground staff in 2024.

The recruitment target for 2023 has been achieved: Swiss has recruited around 1,000 cabin crew, 80 pilots and around 700 ground staff, as the Group announced at the request of AWP. This includes both the recruitment of new employees and natural fluctuation.

As already communicated at the end of 2022, the Lufthansa subsidiary has decided to expand its fleet by five Airbus A350-900 aircraft from 2025. In the longer term, these will replace the four remaining Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
