A 61-year-old woman was found dead by the police in Renens VD on Tuesday morning. The authorities suspected an act of violence. The suspected perpetrator, her husband, was arrested at the scene.

At around 7.15 a.m., a man informed police headquarters that his wife was lying lifeless in their house in Renens, as reported by the Vaud cantonal police on Wednesday. The emergency services intervened quickly, but attempts to resuscitate the victim could not save her, they said.

The police arrested the husband who was present at the scene. He was a 64-year-old Swiss national. When questioned, he later admitted that he had been involved in his wife's death.

The public prosecutor on duty went to the scene of the crime. He entrusted the investigation to the inspectors of the Vaudois security police. He will submit an application for pre-trial detention to the court for coercive measures. The public prosecutor's office initiated a criminal investigation to clarify the circumstances and causes of the crime.
