Morcote and Saint-Ursanne Awarded as Best Tourist Villages

Morcote and Saint-Ursanne in Switzerland have been awarded the title of ‘Best Tourism Villages’ by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). The award was presented at the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and the two villages join five other Swiss villages that have previously been recognised. The villages were chosen for their commitment to sustainable development, their picturesque village centres and various initiatives to preserve, promote and make use of their cultural heritage for tourism. The award gives the villages additional visibility and allows them to position themselves accordingly, according to the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The villages will also benefit from worldwide media campaigns by the UNWTO.
