Ein Motorradfahrer ist am Mittwochabend in Basel frontal mit einem Auto zusammengestossen. Der 26-Jährige starb nach Angaben der Polizei noch an der Unfallstelle.
The accident occurred at around 7 p.m., as reported by the Basel-Stadt cantonal police on Thursday morning. According to the report, a 77-year-old driver mistakenly drove on the wrong side of the road near a roadworks site. He collided with the oncoming motorcyclist.
In addition to the motorcyclist, who died at the scene, the passenger of the car driver was seriously injured and was taken to hospital. According to the press release, a blood and urine sample was ordered from the driver, and a breath alcohol test was negative. The public prosecutor's office has initiated proceedings against the 77-year-old for involuntary manslaughter.
