National Council committee wants tougher stance on Eritrea

Wie der Ständerat möchte auch die zuständige Nationalratskommission abgewiesene Eritreer in ein Drittland zurückschicken und härter gegen gewalttätige Asylsuchende vorgehen. Sie hat ihrem Rat empfohlen, die entsprechenden Motionen anzunehmen.
Rejected Eritrean asylum seekers cannot currently be deported as the authorities in Eritrea categorically refuse to forcibly return their citizens. The National Council's Political Institutions Committee (SPK-N) considers this situation to be unacceptable, as reported by the parliamentary services on Friday.
As there is still no sign of a migration partnership or readmission agreement being concluded with Eritrea, the pressure must be increased. "Everything must be done to at least take a step in the right direction".
Deportation to a third country
Specifically, the SPK-N recommended the motion by FDP member of the Council of States Petra Gössi (SZ) be adopted by 14 votes to 11. According to the motion, rejected Eritrean asylum seekers should have to leave Switzerland for a third country. The National Council had rejected a similar motion in December.
Gössi's motion calls on the Federal Council to conclude a transit agreement with a suitable third country. The model should be an agreement that was signed by the then Minister of Justice Ruth Metzler in Senegal in 2003, but never came into force afterwards.

Es würde den Transit nur für maximal 72 Stunden erlauben. Viele der Betroffenen würden dann in die Schweiz zurückkehren.
Stricter rules for violent offenders
Wie der Ständerat will auch die zuständige Nationalratskommission härter gegen Eritreerinnen und Eritreer vorgehen, die das Regime, vor dem sie angeblich geflohen sind, gewaltsam unterstützen. Eine entsprechende Motion von FDP-Ständerat Andrea Caroni (AR) wurde in der SPK-N mit 12 zu 10 Stimmen angenommen.
Recently, however, there has been an increase in violent demonstrations that glorify the Eritrean dictator and pose a threat to the public safety and order of the population, the petitioner argues. The Federal Council, on the other hand, is of the opinion that the legal means to take action against such individuals already exist.
Die SPK-N schlägt zudem die Annahme von zwei weiteren Motionen zu Eritrea vor, die vom Ständerat gutgeheissen wurden. Das Staatssekretariat für Migration (SEM) soll einen Vertreter für Migrationsfragen in diese Region entsenden, um politische Fortschritte zu erzielen. Zudem soll der Bundesrat neue Migrationspartnerschaften abschliessen.
