The 2025 timetable will bring changes not only to SBB trains, but also to other railroad companies. For example, rail travel from Bern to Murten will become easier. An "Alpenrhein-Express" will now run in the Rhine Valley.
Thanks to various changes, it will now be possible to travel from Bern to Murten FR by S-Bahn every half hour without changing trains, as announced by BLS on Tuesday. At peak times, some of the trains will even run as far as Payerne FR.
In connection with the introduction of the half-hourly service in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, Schweizerische Südostbahn AG (SOB) is also expanding its service alongside SBB. Its new "Alpenrhein-Express" runs from Chur to St. Gallen and from there - formally as an S-Bahn - on to Herisau.
The consultation on the timetable begins on Thursday. It is due to come into force on December 15.
